Talent Reboot

Over the past decade consultants have been convincing companies that there is a “war for talent”. But the financial crisis (and other recent events) has shown us that a number of very talented individuals have been behaving very badly and destroying shareholder value. From Enron to RBS, from Bernie Madoff  to Sir Fred Goodwin and sadly even from Thierry Henry to Tiger Woods talent has been found lying, cheating and wanting. The Talent Reboot argues that talent management is still crucial for business success, but that the current focus and direction needs to change. I argue that the new talent focus needs to shift from creating individual talent to creating talented companies. Talented companies focus on having the right systems, procedures, values and supportive culture and their focus is on making the star system before they make star players. We explore how a number of companies are getting this right and what talent themselves can do to maximise the opportunities for themselves and their company.

A must for any strategy, talent or leadership conference or away day. Thought-Provoking and inspiring.
